San Antonio, Texas (USA), 11th July 2024 — In the United States, food is an opportunity to create events that promote outstanding products and the territories where they come from. Among these events is “The Texas Restaurant Show”, in San Antonio, in the heart of a territory also made legendary by its extensive herds and care for farm animals.

That’s why on 14 and 15 July at this annual show, sponsored by the Texas Restaurant Association and attended by restaurateurs, chefs, and industry executives, two great Italian PDOs, Grana Padano and Prosciutto di Parma, will be presented by their protection consortia in booth #741. The event will be the first in a joint promotional campaign to raise awareness among US and Canadian retailers, chefs and consumers about unique and leading European PDO food products, with Grana Padano PDO being the most widely consumed in the world.

“Distinctly, Deliciously, European” is in fact a European programme that emphasises the importance of quality, authenticity and tradition. Grana Padano and Prosciutto di Parma are among the most significant examples of the value of the Protected Designation of Origin. The firebrand label narrates and guarantees a supply chain based on real people and of great experience, operating only in precise production areas, using age-old techniques to produce excellences that are such only if they are processed in a precise territory and with ancient and strict rules.

«The United States and Canada are in the Top Ten of the main importers of Grana Padano PDO, and we are convinced that we have further opportunities for expansion,” explains Stefano Berni, General Manager of the Consorzio Tutela Grana Padano (Grana Padano Protection Consortium). – But despite the agreements between Canada and the EU and the controls in the US by our protection services, Italian sounding products continue to emerge. We hope that consumers will come to our stand, taste the unique Grana Padano, realise that it is inimitable, and even in legendary Texas understand what to choose».
