Furthermore, on 24 June, from 18:30, at Bar 65, on the 65th floor of the Rockfeller Center, Consorzio Grana Padano will welcome its guests for an aperitif with a view. On this occasion, with help from the friends from GialloZafferanoLoves Italy, two teams comprising a chef and a mixologist will compete against each other. Chefs Cooker Girl and Riccardo Orfino will be paired respectively with Wael Deek, Director of Experience at the restaurant Alice NYC, and Takuma Watanabe, Partner and Beverage Director of Martiny’s, winner of Best New Us Cocktail Bar 2024. Their objective will be to create the perfect aperitif with finger food, prepared mainly with Grana Padano DOP, and cocktails. During the challenge, Andrea Belfiore, TV personality and New York food entrepreneur, will provide the commentary and talk the public through what goes on behind the bar before tasting and proclaiming the wining team.

The event that will take place on the 24th will also be an opportunity to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Consortium founded on 18 June 1954 to bring together the producers, ageing experts, and traders of the PDO cheese and to preserve a heritage that is renewed today in the name of sustainability and protect the quality of life and the environment.

The United States market is hugely important to Grana Padano. In 2023, it exported 194,776 wheels of cheese, which puts the US in third place in terms volumes, but more importantly exports to the country have grown by 11.55% since 2022.

“Grana Padano export volumes and especially the percentage of growth” – said Stefano Berni, General Manager of the Grana Padano Protection Consortium – “confirms the fact that Grana Padano is appreciated because it’s good and full of nutrients but is also testament to our ability to meet customers trends and preferences by upholding our values and telling the story of a cheese that the world has fallen in love with.”
